The 30-second version
Your voice is used only to produce text and is discarded straight afterwards. Transcripts are not kept by default — you have to switch that on yourself. You can view, export or delete your data, or delete your whole account, at any time. Questions? Write to linda@111.net.tw.
1. Where this policy applies
This policy covers the 聆打 Linda website (https://linda.111.net.tw), the Windows desktop application, the Android application and the related APIs.
It does not cover third-party websites you reach from links here. Please check their own privacy policies before following an external link.
2. How your voice is handled
When you press record, the app records on your device and sends the audio to our servers for recognition. That audio is handled as follows:
- Everything is transmitted over HTTPS.
- The audio is used for one purpose only: turning speech into text.
- Once recognition is complete and the text has been returned, the audio is deleted from the server and not retained.
- We do not use your voice to train models, to target advertising, or hand it to third parties for marketing.
- Nobody here ever listens to your recordings on their own initiative; we only review a specific item when you report a recognition problem and explicitly agree to it.
Recognition itself may be performed by a third-party speech recognition provider (see section 7). We send only the audio needed for recognition, without your name, email or any other directly identifying data.
3. Transcripts: not kept by default
This is a deliberate choice on our part, and the most important part of this policy:
- By default, recognised text is never written to our database. Once the text is back on your device, no copy remains on the server.
- If you want a record for later reference, you can turn on "keep transcripts" in the member center or in the app settings.
- Only transcripts produced while the setting is on are stored; nothing new is added after you turn it off.
- You can view, export, delete individually or delete in bulk at any time. Deleting really deletes — we do not keep soft-deleted copies.
Whether or not history is on, we record usage data (timestamp, audio length, success or failure, character count and similar statistics). This is needed for billing and abuse detection, but it never includes what you said.
4. What we collect
Besides the voice and transcripts described above, we collect:
- Account data: email, password hash (never plain text), display name, interface language. If you sign in with Google, also the user identifier and email Google provides.
- Billing data: top-up records, monthly fee deductions, wallet movements, commission and payout records. Credit card numbers are handled by the payment provider — our servers never see or store them.
- Usage data: the time, length, status and character count of each recognition, and which device key was used.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and operating system version, login times.
- Personal dictionary: the proper nouns and preferred spellings you added yourself.
5. What we do with it
Every piece of data we collect has a purpose. "Just in case" is not one of them:
- Providing the service itself: recognition, syncing your dictionary and settings.
- Billing: calculating monthly fees, recording top-ups and commission, processing payouts.
- Account security: login verification, detecting unusual logins, preventing account takeover.
- Abuse prevention: detecting repeat sign-ups for extra trials, scripted attempts to bypass usage limits and the like.
- Essential notifications: verification emails, billing notices, low balance warnings, payout confirmations. These are part of the service and cannot be unsubscribed from separately.
- Cooperating with authorities or the courts where the law requires it.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We only use cookies that are needed to make the site work. No third-party ad tracking:
- Login session: keeps you signed in. Expires when you close the browser.
- Language preference (lang): remembers the interface language you chose, valid for one year.
- Referral code (linda_ref / linda_click): records whose referral link brought you here so commission is calculated correctly, valid for 90 days.
- CSRF token: protects against cross-site request forgery.
7. Third-party services
To provide the service we pass the minimum necessary data to the following kinds of providers:
- Speech recognition providers: receive the audio for transcription, without any identifying data about you.
- Payment provider (ECPay): handles credit card, ATM and convenience store payments. Card details are collected by them directly and never reach us.
- Email delivery provider: sends verification and notification emails, and therefore sees your email address.
- PayPal: used only for payouts to overseas affiliates.
These providers process data on our behalf only. We never sell or rent your data to anyone for marketing purposes.
8. How long we keep things
Retention periods differ by data type:
- Audio: deleted as soon as recognition finishes; never retained.
- Transcripts: not stored by default. Anything produced while history is on is kept until you delete it or delete your account.
- Usage records: kept for 24 months so you can review them and reconcile billing.
- Billing and transaction records: kept as required by tax and accounting law, typically 5 to 7 years.
- Account data: kept until you delete your account. After deletion, everything apart from billing records we are legally required to keep is erased within 30 days.
9. Security measures
The protections we have in place include:
- HTTPS across the entire site.
- Passwords stored as one-way hashes, so we cannot recover them (which is why a forgotten password can only be reset, never resent).
- Failed login limits and temporary account lockout to stop brute-force attempts.
- Databases and log files stored outside the web root so they cannot be downloaded via a URL.
- Least-privilege access, with an audit trail of administrative actions.
10. Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Act you have the following rights over your own data:
- To enquire about it or request access.
- To request a copy (data export).
- To request that it be completed or corrected.
- To request that collection, processing or use stop.
- To request deletion.
Most of this you can do yourself in the member center (view usage, export transcripts, delete transcripts, delete your account). For anything else, write to linda@111.net.tw and we will reply within 15 working days. Please note that billing and tax records must be kept by law and cannot be deleted on request.
11. Minors
The Service is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Anyone under 18 should obtain their legal guardian's consent before using it. If we learn that we have collected a minor's data without consent, we will delete it as soon as possible.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may change because of legal developments or changes to the Service. Amendments are published on this page with an updated "last updated" date; if the change is significant (for example a new purpose or a longer retention period) we will also notify you by email.
